In the dense forests of Vietnam lie the remains of those who perished in re-education camps. snapshots snapshots snapshots Their graves appear in the distant memories of former guards and prisoners alike. Tattered, hand-drawn maps chart the grounds of sites long abandoned and overgrown, and local residents lend knowledge and experience to the search. The Returning Casualty, a project of the Vietnamese American Foundation, is a mission to recover the remains, release them from their jungle prisons, and return them to their families for ceremonial rites and burial. It is our vision that the return of the last casualties of the wars in Vietnam will bring peace of mind to the families who suffered.
